Inspiration

Welcome

Stonehenge AA Freethinkers is an international secular online community of Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) which operates in accordance with the Third Tradition of the Alcoholics Anonymous Program ‘the only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to stop drinking’.

We recognise that not everyone believes in a god or even a higher power; we have created a safe place for people to express themselves regardless of their world views, beliefs, religion, spiritual experiences or rejection of them.

Our meetings have no religion, no prayer – just those gathering together for support and sobriety.

About

Why Stonehenge?

Stonehenge AA Freethinkers has its roots in the English countryside where its founders live close to the World Heritage Site in Wiltshire.  Our meetings have always been online, allowing wide attendance - time zones permitting! - from around the world.  But we held a very special face to face meeting on 12 September 2023 (pictured above), when 30 Stonehenge AA Freethinkers, from the UK and USA, met for a private session inside the inner circle of stones at sunset.  Full details of our online meetings are below.

Resources

Stonehenge Steps

We are currently reading:

  • Staying Sober Without God, The practical 12 Steps to Long-Term Recovery from Alcoholism & Addictions by Jeffrey Munn.
  • Staying Sober Without God: The Workbook: A Psychology-Based Guide Through the Practical 12 Steps of Recovery for Anyone Struggling With Alcohol, Drugs, or Compulsive Behaviors by Jeffrey Munn
  • Beyond Belief: Agnostic Musings for 12 Step Life: Finally, a daily reflection book for nonbelievers, freethinkers and everyone! by Joe C.  We use the reading shown on the 10th day of each month as the basis for our study of A.A. traditions.

Stonehenge Women

Stonehenge Women collaborated with our sister group, Sober She Devils, for the 2021 ICSSA UK/EU convention to produce a podcast entitled 'Invisible No More - Finding Our Voice'
Members of Stonehenge Women have attempted to capture their thoughts, experiences and coping strategies, that have been shared at our meetings in a series of readings that are now available online.  If you would like to contribute your Story please follow the Contact Us link, above.
